Privacy

EulogyApp is operated by Wells Software Consulting LLC. This service is intended for people in the United States.

What we collect

What you type into the wizard about the person who died, your relationship to them, and the tone and length you chose. If you create an account, your email address and how you signed in. If you add a memorial page, the photos you upload — location data embedded in photo files is stripped before we store them. If you pay, a record of what you bought; Stripe handles the card and we never see or store card details. We also log basic technical information such as IP address and pages visited, to keep the service running and to stop abuse.

Before you press the button

While you are answering the questions, your draft is held in your own browser and nowhere else. Nothing reaches our servers until you ask us to write the eulogy. If you close the tab before then, it stays on your device — and it stays there until you clear it or clear your browser data. We do not expire it for you.

Where it goes

Once you ask for the eulogy, your answers are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate the draft, and stored in our database on Google Cloud so you can come back to them. Your data is stored in the United States.

The full list of who else is involved:

  • An AI provider — receives your answers to write the eulogy. They are contractually barred from training on what you send.
  • Stripe — handles payment. They receive your email and card details; we receive only a record that you paid.
  • Google Cloud — hosts the service and the database.
  • Firebase Authentication (also Google) — manages signing in.

We do not sell your personal information.

Training AI models

What you write is not used to train AI models. The AI provider that generates your draft is barred by its commercial terms from training models on anything submitted through its API, and we choose our provider on that basis. We do not train any model of our own on what you write, and we do not sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.

We also keep it away from crawlers. Memorial pages and unpublished drafts are excluded in robots.txt from every crawler we can name — search indexers, AI answer engines and model-training crawlers alike. That file is public; you can read it at /robots.txt and check.

Advertising and analytics

We advertise this service on search engines. To know whether an ad worked, we use Microsoft Advertising's conversion tracking, which sets a cookie and tells Microsoft that a visit led to a purchase.

What you write in the eulogy is never sent to any advertising company. Not the name, not the stories, none of it. What is shared is limited to the fact that a browser which saw an ad later completed a purchase, and the amount.

Under California law that counts as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. You can turn it off on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser automatically.

Other people in the eulogy

A eulogy usually names living people — family, friends, the people in the stories. They have not used this site and have not agreed to anything. We do not contact them, build profiles of them, or use what you wrote about them for anything other than producing your eulogy and, if you create one, showing the memorial page you chose to publish.

Memorial pages

A memorial page is private until you publish it, and is reachable by anyone with the link once you do. We ask search engines not to index memorial pages. Guestbook entries are held for your approval before they appear.

Funeral home partners

If you arrived through a funeral home's branded page, that firm can see that a eulogy was started and whether it was paid for. They cannot read what you wrote or the eulogy itself.

How long we keep it

  • Drafts in your browser — until you clear them or clear your browser data. We do not remove them for you.
  • Eulogies and memorial pages — until you delete them.
  • Payment records — for as long as tax and accounting rules require. These are records of the transaction, not the eulogy itself.
  • Deleted eulogies — removed from the live database immediately. Copies held in routine backups are overwritten as those backups age out.

Your rights

If you live in California, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you and where it came from.
  • Delete it. You can delete a eulogy yourself from your dashboard at any time, which removes its memorial page with it.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.

We will not treat you differently for asking. Email support@eulogyapp.com. We will confirm we have your request within 10 days and answer within 45, or tell you if we need another 45. We may need to check who you are first — usually by confirming you can receive email at the address on the account.

Children

This service is not for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has used it, email us and we will delete the account.

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access to the production database is limited to the people who operate the service. No system is perfect. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you rather than wait for you to find out.

Changes to this policy

If we change this page we will update the date below. If a change materially affects what happens to something you have already written, we will email you rather than rely on you noticing.
