How to write a eulogy
Every one of these is hard in a different way. Start with whichever is yours.
For your mother
The eulogy people expect you to give, and the one you are least able to write.
For your father
For the man who probably never told you much about himself.
For your grandfather
A long life, told by someone who only saw the last part of it.
For your grandmother
For the woman whose work mostly went unrecorded.
For your husband
Written by the person with the least distance from it.
For your wife
Written by the person with the least distance from it.
For your friend
You were chosen, not assigned - and that is worth saying.
For a veteran
Service was part of who they were, not the whole of it.
Or just start
A few warm questions about them. About five minutes, on your phone. Everything saves as you type.
